Fwded email: Contact Adam Ravenstahl!

The PA House of Representatives is soon going to vote on House Bill
1950.  This bill would take away ALL rights of communities to protect
their residents from gas drilling/fracking.  It's  'one size fits all'
legislation that only fits the gas industry.

The driller$ have given so much money to our state reps & senators &
they expect something in return.  What?  They show up in Harrisburg &
hand our legislators laws they've written & expect them to be passed.

You can read more about HB1950 here:

Today - please contact Lawrenceville's state rep., Adam Ravenstahl &
tell him to vote NO on HB 1950.

Email that I got from Rep. Ravenstahl on Friday:

An early Christmas present for big oil and gas

This week I voted against legislation advanced by the Republican majority in the House of Representatives because it fails to raise enough revenue from corporations making huge profits from our natural resources and does not adequately protect the environment.

House Bill 1950 has an effective tax rate on gas drillers of 1 percent. To put it in perspective, our neighbors in West Virginia currently have a 6.1 percent tax rate on gas drilling. We could have done better, particularly when you consider Pennsylvanians were asked to make sacrifices as part of the GOP's budget cuts a few months ago.

The bill also provides little environmental protection for Pennsylvania residents. It allows a gas well to be drilled just 1,000 feet from a public water supply.

What's also troubling is the bill would strip away the power of local government to regulate drillers. I'm concerned the industry, and not local officials who know better, would determine where a well, gas pipeline or compressor station could be located.

The bill now goes to the state Senate for consideration.

As always, please contact me if I can be of assistance with any state-related issue.

Sure looks like the Ravenstahl's are in favor of killing our environment. How much money have they taken from the drilling companies?
