Umm, ouch.
I saw this link on the 37 Roses Blog. It tells you the reading level of your blog. I knew it was going to be bad, but I didn't think it would be this bad. At least it is accessible to many people...I guess.

No, no, no, Ska!
First of all, it only scans the page of your blog that appears when you bring up the URL -- no archives. Secondly, ahem, The Burgh Blog has an elementary school reading level -- and the humor (and also, I might point out, PittGirl's firm grasp of sports lingo and very colorful deployment of it) could have never been written by an elementary school student -- this is just one of those silly tests based strictly on "vocabulary words" and does not take into account the nuanced use of language or understanding of concepts and knowledge of certain topics, etc.
But since the test is about the *reading* level, and not the *writing* level, I'd still argue that it's highly flawed because while an elementary school student can *read* certain words, it doesn't mean they understand them, specifically as it pertains to their context in the way they've been "cobbled together." (Just using the phrase *du jour*. I keep seeing that. Time for a new phrase! And while I'm at it, CAN WE (I include myself!) PLEASE ALL COME UP WITH ANOTHER WORD TO DESCRIBE TWANDA CARLISLE OTHER THAN "EMBATTLED!" I feel so much better now that I've got that off my chest.)
So, anyway, your "rating" is not the kick in the pants you think it is. You already knew that, Dorothy.
