Pittsburgh Acts

I'm not really a blogger who has the attention span to write long posts about the history, facts, ramifications, etc of each piece of legislation that is up for discussion/voting/etc. I figure there are other people who are the same way. I've decided to make a cheat sheet of Acts.

1. Act 47 = Okay, we spent our allowance...and then we used the credit card...and now we owe a lot of money. The state was like, "Go get a job...you can pay it back over five years...but we're going to be in charge of your finances-- that's right. Yes. Don't give me that look, young lady!" Got it? Good. Here's an article that sums things up.

2. Act 55 = Now, Bram was talkin' about this one. He was pretty upset about it. That's all I really remember. He wanted everyone to go in and make a ruckus. I had to go to class and take a nap. Here is my basic understanding: We have a lot of nonprofits in Pittsburgh. Some of them have money but many of them don't have money. Then the government is like, well we're in act 47 and we owe our parents a bunch of money. Hand over your taxes. The problem is that UPMC has some kind of nonprofit status but they still have like...600 million bucks. Some non profits only have 6 bucks. So then it all gets complicated. Talk to Bram if you want to know more.

*I just found a PA Laws Blog here. *

Okay that's all I've got for right now. If I see more, I will update this list.

Sincerely,

Agent Ska

Come on, baby ... you can do better than that.

Your Act 47 synopsis was brilliant, but you understand Act 55 better than you're letting on.

Do you think that the person who writes Cliff's Notes should have read Moby Dick (or whatever book). Perhaps you have the attention span to read but not to write. Of course, perhaps the devil's in the details, but absent details, perhaps no devil.

Do we have balloon payments coming up? Red Balloon or yellow balloon?

Um. I did my best. Haha. Feel free to fill in the missing details.

If they talked about balloon payments at those hearings, I totally missed it. I think we owe like 99 red balloons.
